The Dambuskers
The Dambuskers are a four piece Folk-Rock-Roots band that is fast gaining a reputation in North Devon, the West Country and beyond. After busking and jamming together in the streets and sessions, Steve, Chloe and Baz pooled songs and ideas and formed The Dambuskers in 2003.
Influenced by trad folk, 60's acid rock, and modern heroes The Levellers, The Pogues and The Waterboys, Steve began introducing his own material for the others to savage, and the band began to build a strong set of original tracks, dynamic jigs'n'reels and 'Dambuskerised' favourites.
Very much a live act, and a festival band at heart, The Dambuskers are beginning to turn that dream into a reality with performances at local and national festivals, including:
● Brampton Live 2006 ● Bideford 2004/05/06/07 ● Teignmouth 2006/07
● GoldCoast Oceanfest 2007 ● Exmoor 2006/07 ● West Somerset 2006
● Landmark Beer Festival 2007 ● 'Our World Is Not For Sale' ● Potwalloping Festival
Steve Ruffé - Lead Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica, Bodhran
The 'Wild Man of Folk'… a legend in his own lunchtime!
Always giving 200% Raaahhh!! his folk with 'attitude' infects the crowd.
Genuine and warm hearted, his songs reflect a deep passion for Native American Indian ideology, mixed with his frustrations at our culture - that just won't let him be! Biker tales, sailor stories and above all his love to party with a pint in hand influence his high energy writing and performing.
Chloe Watson – Fiddle, Vocals, Guitar
A multi-talented musician, her classical training gives her the freedom and edge to float above the wild things around her, and still turn the men's heads!! With a powerful 'rock' voice cut on the streets of Spain, and a feminine gypsy flair, Chloe's songs spell bind the listener as much as her fiery fiddling does.
Baz Bix – Bodhran, Cajón, Vocals, Guitar
Born from the infuriating tapping on his mother's kitchen table Baz's drumming is the essential focus of the bands rhythmic pulse. A fire-juggling festival child and with a brain the size of an (alien) planet, Baz's hippy heart and hectic head tirelessly herd the drones.
Mick 'The Horse' Pledge – Bass, Guitar, Vocals
With a long history of playing in punk and rockabilly bands, Mick's bass nails the Dambuskers sound. The newest member of the band, horse trainer and family man, his cheeky Essex roots never cease to amuse.
'Watching their set at Brampton Live was like stumbling across a damn good party!!'
- (Ken & Sue Bradburn, Co-directors - Brampton Live Festival & Emerging Music)
“Dambuskers are the most exciting folk rock band I have seen. Walk into one of their gigs and you will feel the buzz instantly.” - (Andy Knight, Festival Organizer – Bideford Folk Festival)
