A brief run down of this year's musical line up
This year sees some great local bands gearing up to play at Fun on the Fields. Saturday gives the younger bands a chance to play, with special appearances from Deluded and Chimps with Lipstick; two impressive acts from last year's open mic afternoon. Steve Ley will be running the day and playing his own stuff in between. All being well we also welcome back Dave Little, Pete Bruntnell and Steve PP. We also hope to have Dan Arborise, an established folk singer who has been described as John Martyn meets Nick Drake for the 21st century, playing a set during the afternoon. DJs Hog One and Joel Soul are set to provide the evening entertainment with a carnival-esque mix of latin, afro and salsa funk tunes, lets hope we have a nice Woolacombe sunset to accompany them!
Sunday's line up is looking good, with all acts confirmed. Samba Sol will be there at the start with a little festival drumming and will be on site to offer workshops for those that would like to participate in a later performance. Zamba ( http://www.myspace.com/zambaband ) will be opening the afternoon at 2pm. With their special blend of reggae, carnival and ska, we look forward to a great opening show. The Dambuskers
( http://www.myspace.com/thedambuskers ) will then bring their festival friendly folk rock to Fun on the Fields. Full of energy and attitude, they'll be the perfect accompaniment to the afternoon.
Finally, it all has to come to an end, but not before The Liquidators see us out with their popular ska tunes, getting us all skanking before we crawl home after another fab fun on the fields!
